DOJ indicts suspect in killing of CA justice Pizarro
The Department of Justice has indicted a suspect in the murder of retired Court of Appeals (CA) justice Normandie Pizarro in 2020.
According to three-page information, the DOJ panel of prosecutors found reasonable ground to file murder charges against Ramon Tayag for conspiring and helping other suspects kill Pizarro.
No bail was recommended against Pangan.
In December 2020, the National Bureau of Investigation confirmed that human remains found in Capas, Tarlac in October of that year were those of Pizarro, who was last seen in Pampanga on October 23.
His car was found abandoned in San Simon with traces of blood on October 30, while his cadaver was found with missing fingers and an amputated hand.
According to the state prosecution, the suspects made use of a motor vehicle and shot Pizarro, “thereby inflicting a gunshot wound at the head that caused his death.”
The suspects also ridiculed the victim's corpse by “undressing and throwing a rock and placing a paper with insulting words on his body, thereby causing ignominy to the damage and prejudice of his heirs.”
The document was signed by Assistant State Prosecutor Michael Humarang Prosecution Attorney Mary Arboladura and approved by Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento. — BM, GMA News
