NCR’s weekly COVID-19 growth rate remains at -20% –OCTA

The National Capital Region (NCR)’s weekly COVID-19 growth rate remained at -20% after 9,455 new COVID-19 infections were recorded on January 20, according to OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David.

In a Friday Twitter post, David said that the COVID-19 average daily attack rate (ADAR) in the NCR decreased to 93.82% from 111.47% on Wednesday. Nevertheless, it remained on a severe level.

ADAR pertains to the incidence showing the average number of new cases in a period per 100,000 people.

Meanwhile, the ADAR in the Kalinga (43.98%) and Mountain Province (32.95%) was “very high,”  while it was “high” in Ifugao (22.56%), and “moderate” in Northern Samar (7.02%).

David earlier said new cases outside NCR Plus increased by 200% in eight days, despite the decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases in the NCR.

He said cases outside NCR increased from less than 4,000 on January 12 to almost 12,000 as of January 20.

This should not be surprising as the wave had "spread out" into other parts of the country.

On Friday, the Department of Health (DOH) registered 32,744 new COVID-19 infections pushing the nationwide tally to 3,357,083. — DVM, GMA News
