PNP chief Carlos: Inputs to improve anti-drug campaign are welcome

Philippine National Police chief Police General Dionardo Carlos on Wednesday welcomed the remarks of presidential bet Senator Panfilo Lacson on the current anti-drug war campaign of the administration.

At a press conference, Carlos said the PNP is open for inputs that would improve the anti-illegal drug campaign.

“I respect the statement or the observation of the good senator. At the end of the day, we are performing our duties…Kung nagkulang (if found lacking), based on assessment, let's look at it at end of the administration,” he said.

“Probably, there is a better way to do it kaya nga continuous yung pagre-revise (that is why revision is ongoing). If there would be inputs that would help us, we will welcome it,” he added.

Carlos issued his remarks when asked about the statement of Lacson, a former PNP chief, that the anti-drug campaign should be holistic and comprehensive.

Lacson said the Duterte administration is primarily concerned with law enforcement and not with prevention and rehabilitation.

“Dapat holistic tsaka comprehensive ang approach,” the senator said during the Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews aired last Saturday. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
