PNP COVID-19 cases climb to 47,994


The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday said it has recorded 132 new COVID-19 cases among its personnel, driving up the total tally of coronavirus infections to 47,994.

Of this number, 1,693 are active cases, according to data from the PNP Health Service.

The number of recoveries went up to 46,175 after 301 cases recovered.

The death toll meanwhile remained at 126.

The Philippines on Friday logged 18,638 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the nationwide caseload to 3,511,491. 

The Department of Health (DOH) said 231,658 of these cases are active.

Meanwhile, total recoveries rose to 3,226,032 with 13,106 new individuals recovered from the viral disease.

The DOH also reported 68 new fatalities increasing the death toll to 53,801. —KG, GMA News
