NCR now at low risk for COVID-19 transmission –OCTA

The National Capital Region (NCR) is now classified as “low risk” for COVID-19 transmission as the situation in the region continues to improve, according to independent monitoring group OCTA Research on Wednesday.

In a tweet, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said the reproduction number in the NCR decreased to 0.25.

The reproduction number refers to the number of people infected by one case. A reproduction number below 1 indicates that the transmission of the virus is slowing down.

David also noted that the region’s positivity rate decreased to 9.1%, while the average daily attack rate (ADAR) was 6.67.

ADAR pertains to the incidence showing the average number of new cases in a period per 100,000 people.

Meanwhile, the NCR’s hospital utilization improved to 29.6%, while the intensive care unit (ICU) utilization rate was 32%.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday logged 3,651 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the country’s caseload to 3,623,176.—LDF, GMA News
