201 distressed Filipinos repatriated from Qatar – DFA
A total of 201 distressed overseas Filipinos in Qatar were repatriated on Monday, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
In a statement on Wednesday, the DFA said the repatriates, which included 185 women, three children, and two infants, arrived in the country via a chartered flight.
Philippine Embassy and Philippine Overseas Labor Office representatives were at the airport to assist them regarding any concerns, including immigration-related issues, the department said.
“The February 7 chartered repatriation flight is the 15th of its kind to be mounted by the Embassy since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This would not have been possible without the cooperation and support of the Philippine and Qatari governments, and the Philippine Airlines,” the DFA said.
“The Embassy and its partner agencies continue to provide assistance to distressed overseas Filipinos either through regular or special repatriation programs, as the case may be,” it added. — VBL, GMA News
