Gov’t extends ‘Bayanihan, Bakunahan’ III until February 18, 2022 — DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday announced that the third wave of the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” has been extended until Friday next week, February 18.

The vaccination drive was initially scheduled from February 10 to 11.

“Ie-extend na po natin ang ating Bayanihan, Bakunahan III program hanggang sa susunod na linggo, February 18,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said at a media briefing.

(We are extending our Bayanihan, Bakunahan III progam until next week.)

“Kaya naman po, hinihikayat na po natin kayong lahat, bawat isa sa atin, magpabakuna na po tayo ng ating primary series o di kaya ay magpa-booster shots na tayo dahil ito po ay daan para magkaroon tayo ng maximum protection para po sa pagpunta natin sa ating new normal,” she added.

(That’s why we are urging each and every one of us to get vaccinated with our primary series or get booster shots so achieve maximum protection on our way to the new normal.)

Vergeire said a total of 662,318 Filipinos were vaccinated during the first of the vaccination drive, of which 442,346 were primary doses.

Meanwhile, a total of 219,972 were given booster shots.

“Ngayon po ang ikalawang araw ng ating Bayanihan, Bakunahan III at patuloy pa rin ang ating simultaneous nationwide rollout ng mga bakuna para sa ating mga kababayan na may edad 12 pataas,” she said.

(This is the second day of our Bayanihan, Bakunahan III and we continue our simultaneous nationwide rollout for our countrymen aged 12 and above.)

Vergeire said the government remains hopeful it will reach the 5 million target.

Earlier, the Department of Labor and Employment urged employers in the private sector to allow their employees to accompany their children for vaccination without considering them absent.

At present, a total of 60.6 million Filipinos have received one dose, 59.9 million have been fully vaccinated, and 8 million have received booster shots— RSJ, GMA News
