3,788 new COVID-19 cases bring active tally to 91K


The Philippines on Friday logged 3,788 new COVID-19 cases bringing the nationwide caseload to 3,630,637.

Based on the Department of Health (DOH)’s latest bulletin, the country’s active cases stood at 91,147.

Of these cases, 3,261 are asymptomatic, 83,145 are mild, 2,986 are moderate, 1,443 are severe, and 312 are critical.

 

 

The DOH said of the 3,788 reported cases on Friday, 3,661 or 97% occurred within the recent 14 days from January 29 to February 11, 2022.

The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were NCR with 470 or 13%, followed by Region 6 with 455 or 12% and Region 11 with 453 or 12%.

Total recoveries climbed to 3,484,636 with 5,652 new ones, while 72 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 54,854.

Meanwhile, the country’s COVID-19 positivity rate was at 14.7%, which is higher than the World Health Organization's requirement target of less than 5% positivity rate.

The total conducted COVID-19 tests were at 32,795.

Data also showed that intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide remained at high risk with 34% of the total 4,300 ICU beds in use.

At least 30% of the 15,300 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 28% of the 4,200 ward beds in the NCR were in use.

The DOH said all laboratories were operational since February 9, while there was only one laboratory that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.

It also reported 726 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 449 are recoveries.

Meanwhile, at least 52 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.—LDF, GMA News
