Pulse Asia poll taken before Robredo's game-changing interviews –spokesperson

Vice President Leni Robredo's spokesperson Atty. Barry Gutierrez on Sunday said they were not bothered by the recent Pulse Asia presidential survey in which former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. topped the bets at 60%.

In a statement, Gutierrez said the survey, which was taken from January 19 to 24, was "too early to capture the impact of the game-changing" presidential interviews of Robredo.

"While the Pulse Asia survey was only released today, fieldwork for it was done from January 19-24, too early to capture the impact of the game-changing interviews with GMA, DZRH, and other media outfits," he said.

"VP Leni's stellar performance in those interviews, added to the massive rallies that have come out for her during this first week of the official campaign, give us confidence that she has the clear momentum. We have no doubt this will be reflected in the coming surveys, and of course, on election day," he added.

Marcos topped the latest poll with Robredo placing a far second at 16%.

The poll showed Marcos, son of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, scoring above 50% in the National Capital Region (57%), Balance Luzon (61%), Visayas (53%), and Mindanao (66%) to dominate his rivals.

Marcos also scored 50% and up in Class C, D, and E with 50%, 61%, and 56%.

Robredo, for her part, scored the highest in Balance Luzon and the Visayas where she both rated 19%, followed by Metro Manila where she scored 16%.

Expectedly, Robredo fared the lowest in Mindanao at 8%, given that Marcos, Jr.'s running mate is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Pulse Asia nationwide survey, taken before the campaign period that started last February 8, is based on a sample of 2,400 respondents aged 18 years old and above. It has a ± 2% error margin at the 95% confidence level.

Subnational estimates for each of the geographic areas covered in the survey (i.e., Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao) have a ± 4% error margin, also at a 95% confidence level. — DVM, GMA News
