Inday Sara says campaign vs. illegal drugs must continue

Vice presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said Tuesday the campaign against illegal drugs must be continued.

Duterte mentioned this during her visit in the province of Isabela together with senatorial aspirants Harry Roque, Gilbert Teodoro, and Mark Villar.

"Kailangan nating ituloy ang pagsugpo sa ilegal na droga dahil sila po ang sisira sa kinabukasan ng ating kabataan. 'Yan po ang gusto ng UniTeam, 'yan po ang gusto naming ikampanya sa inyong lahat," Duterte, running mate of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., said.

(The campaign against illegal drugs must continue as this will destroy the future of our youth. That's what the UniTeam wants.)

Duterte, however, did not elaborate how the campaign against illegal drugs would be if she wins the vice presidential race.

President Rodrigo Duterte, her father, has been campaigning for the eradication of illegal drugs as he had launched a bloody war against it at the start of his presidency. His war on drugs has been criticized because it was linked to the alleged extrajudicial killings in the country.

Government data showed that at least 6,000 have been killed in the drug war while local and international rights groups claimed that the deaths could reach at least 20,000.

Sara, meanwhile, said the infrastructure programs of the present administration should continue as well. — RSJ, GMA News
