Moreno willing to appoint VP Leni as part of his Cabinet if elected
GMA, Cavite— Presidential candidate and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno on Thursday said he is willing to appoint fellow aspirant and Vice President Leni Robredo as part of his Cabinet should he win the 2022 elections.
“Why not, if she’s willing… hypothetically. Kung saan siya magaling, kung ano 'yung kagalingan niya, if she’s willing,” Moreno said in an ambush interview when asked about the possible appointment of Robredo.
(Why not, if she’s willing… hypothetically. Whatever she is good at, if she’s willing.)
However, he stressed that he did not want to preempt the elections.
“Pero ayoko pangunahan ang mga tao. With all honesty, but I can assure you, I can work with anybody,” Moreno said.
(But I don’t want to preempt the people. With all honesty, but I can assure you, I can work with anybody.)
When asked if he would accept Robredo’s possible offer for a Cabinet position, Moreno reiterated that he will be retiring if he will lose in the presidential race.
“Retired na ko, eh. Nag promise na ko sa inyo. Magre-retire na ko. I think I have done my share and the people chose already kung sino ang leader nila,” he said.
(I will be retired already. I made a promise. I will retire. I think I have done my share and the people chose already who their leader is.)
“Ako naman, syempre, malaki ang utang ko sa pamilya ko kasi ang naging pamilya ko ‘yung taumbayan… talagang malaki din ang sakrispisyo ng pamilya ko,” he added.
(For me, of course, I am grateful to my family because for many years I prioritized the people over them. My family sacrificed a lot.)
Moreno previously said he will appoint fellow candidate Senator Panfilo Lacson to address corruption when asked if he could see any of the presidential candidates as a possible part of his government. Lacson thanked Moreno for acknowledging his ability but he said he intends to win.
