Atong Ang claims other cockfight licensees 'conspiring' against him over e-sabong operations

Gaming tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang on Friday claimed other e-sabong licensees, including a retired national police chief and former and incumbent congressmen, are “conspiring” against him over his handling of the biggest online sabong operations in the country.

The businessman made the remark as he cried foul of alleged “trial by publicity” and his firm, Lucky 8 Star Quest Inc., being singled out by the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs.

“Ang Lucky 8 parang ginanon ninyo na guilty e . Trial by publicity. Papatunayan ko sa inyo na may conspiracy dito. Wala kaming kinalaman diyan, papatunayan ko sa inyo ang conspiracy,” Ang said during the panel’s second hearing.

“Sino ang may-ari ng Lucky 8? Ako. Sino may-ari ng isang kompanya d’yan? The biggest, the longest gaming or gambling lord in the Philippines. Alam ninyo na kung sino ‘yan. Thirty years na mahigit ‘yan. In fact, sinasabi niya na hawak niya ang mga presidente lagi,” he added.

Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, panel chairperson, denied they are singling out Lucky 8 Star Quest Inc.

He then pressed Ang to name the other e-sabong stakeholder he was referring to.

Ang responded, saying it was a certain “Pineda.”

The gaming tycoon also mentioned some former and incumbent congressmen who are allegedly involved in e-sabong operations.

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon then asked Ang to state on record the other licensees of e-sabong. This was seconded by Dela Rosa.

Ang then mentioned names.

“Anim kami na magkakakilala rito. Number 1, ako. Number 2, Bong Pineda. Number 3, Cong. Teves. Number 4, di ko kilala mga kumpanya nila eh, kay ex-congressman Patrick Antonio. Number 5 kina Mayor Elan. Number 6, kina Gen. Cascolan, class ’86,” he said.

GMA News Online is reaching out to the personalities for their comments.

“Kung titingnan ninyo ang conspiracy dito makikita ninyo, ang laban na ito. Tutal delikado rin ang buhay ko d’yan… Papunta na rin sa scenario na gusto nila— kasi 90% sa income ng sabong operations 90 to 95 kami ‘yon. Kasi members ko lahat sa buong Pilipinas na big-time sabungero kasi legit talaga na maayos lahat nakita naman nila kung anong purpose nito hindi lang gumawa ng pera,” Ang claimed.

The businessman also requested an executive session with the members of the committee as he said he will divulge vital information related to the cases of missing sabungeros.—AOL, GMA News
