PDP-Laban backing Marcos is not yet Duterte endorsement, says Andanar
President Rodrigo Duterte is not yet endorsing anybody for the 2022 presidential race, the Palace said Tuesday.
Acting presidential spokesperson Martin Andanar made the response when asked about the PDP-Laban faction under Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi endorsing the presidential bid of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.
"Malinaw na ito ay desisyon ng partido pero hindi malinaw na ito ang gusto ni Presidente," Andanar said.
(The decision to endorse Mr. Marcos is clearly a party decision but it is unclear if this is the position of the President, too.)
"Antayin na lang po natin ang Pangulong Duterte [na magsalita]," he added.
(Let us just wait for the President to speak about it.)
Andanar also refused to elaborate, saying questions on endorsing Marcos should come from PDP-Laban.
"Ako po ay tagapagsalita ng ating Pangulo, hindi ng PDP-Laban," she said.
(I am a spokesperson of the President, not PDP-Laban.)
