Lacson, Sotto drop Migz after Zubiri raised Marcos' hand in Bukidnon

Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Tito Sotto have removed Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri from the lineup of senatorial candidates they are supporting in Eleksyon 2022.

Asked in a press conference in Romblon if they still backed Zubiri after the latter raised the hand of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in Bukidnon, Lacson said, “Hindi na, hindi na (not anymore).”

“Alam naman nila ‘yun, kung ano ‘yung consequence. Kung ayaw nila sa amin [at] iba ‘yung gustong dalhin, eh parang awkward naman na dalhin pa rin namin sila, hindi ba? So, it’s a personal choice. No hard feelings,” Lacson said.

(They know the consequences of their actions. If they didn't want us and want to endorse others, then it seems awkward for us to bring them along. So, it’s a personal choice. No hard feelings.)

“Maliwanag naman ‘yun when we talked to him na pwede sila ma-endorse ng iba, ma-adopt ng iba, but once they parang endorse another team, another tandem, then so be it and that’s it,” he added.

(It was clear when we talked to him that they can be endorsed by others or adopted by others. But, once they endorse another team or another tandem, then so be it and that’s it.)

Lacson and Sotto have dropped their endorsements for Senator Sherwin Gatchalian and senatorial candidate Herbert Bautista after they endorsed other presidential and vice presidential contenders in Eleksyon 2022.

They stressed earlier that the senatorial candidates would enjoy their endorsement as long as they would not “openly” endorse other presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Further, Lacson said they remained “completely or wholeheartedly” endorsing the candidacy of senatorial bets former Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol, Dr. Minguita Padilla, former Philippine National Police chief Guillermo Eleazar, former Senator JV Ejercito, Senator Joel Villanueva, and former Information and Communications Secretary Gregorio Honasan II.

“Yan ‘yung mga sigurado namin na… Kasi nag-express na rin sila e, na maski adopted sila ng iba, nandiyan pa rin sila sa amin. ‘Di ba, may kasabihan tayo, sa mga lovers ito ha, love that is not met can reach but halfway,” he said.

(Those are the ones we are sure of because they have already expressed their support to us. Even if they are adopted by others, they are still there with us. We have a saying for lovers: love that is not met can reach but halfway.) —NB, GMA News
