LTFRB to go on heightened alert amid Holy Week, summer travels

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is set to go on heightened alert as the volume of commuters is expected to increase amid Holy Week and the summer season.

Under the “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Summer Vacation 2022” of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), LTFRB has been tasked to ensure the security of passengers, as well as the compliance of bus terminals to health protocols.

LTFRB will also conduct a random inspection on buses to ensure their roadworthiness and safety of commuters.

It will also set up “Malasakit Help Desks” in integrated terminals and in areas near private terminals to provide information to passengers.

LTFRB said commuters heading to the provinces can proceed to the following terminals in Metro Manila: the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), the Santa Rosa Integrated Terminal (SRIT), and the North Luzon Expressway Terminal (NLET), and the Araneta Center Terminal.

Meanwhile, private terminals in Metro Manila can only be accessed by bus operators from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in accordance with the new “window scheme” implemented by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority. — Mel Matthew Doctor/BM, GMA News
