PNP reports zero active case for the first time since COVID-19 pandemic

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said it is already “COVID-free” after reporting zero active cases among its personnel for the first time since the start of the pandemic in 2020.

In an update on Tuesday, PNP data showed that the remaining active case has already been tagged as recovered from the disease.

“The PNP is now COVID-free, based on the latest case bulletin released by the PNP Health Service. After seeing a steady downtrend of active coronavirus infection among PNP personnel in recent days, the PNP did not log any new case as of April 12, 2022,” it said in a statement.

Since the pandemic, the PNP recorded a total of 48,861 COVID-19 cases, of which 48,732 have recovered while 129 died.

PNP chief Police General Dionardo Carlos reminded personnel to still protect themselves, maintain a healthy body, boost their immune system, and regularly submit to medical check-ups.

“Suffice it to say the PNP COVID-19 curve has significantly flattened with currently no new cases and zero active cases,” he said.

“Consistent with the prevailing national trend of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, PNP active cases dropped sharply in February after it peaked at 4,964 in January 14, 2022, a day after it logged 547 new cases,” he added.

Meanwhile, around 99.59% of PNP personnel are fully vaccinated from COVID-19 and 96.43% have already taken their booster shots, the police organization said.
