Leni vows support for seniors, Kiko warns vs. 'tax evaders' in Negros Oriental visit
Barnstorming Negros Oriental, Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday vowed programs that would enhance the benefits of the country's senior citizens following a dialogue with them, according to Saleema Refran’s report on “24 Oras.”
Her running mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan reminded voters to choose an honest leader.
“Huwag tayong mamimili ng sinasabing galit sa kurakot pero hindi naman sinusoli ‘yung kinurakot. Hindi pa nagbabayad ng buwis – P203 billion. Alam ninyo kung magkano ‘yung P203 billion kapag binayaran? Marami ang makikinabang na mga kababayan natin,” Pangilinan said.
The senator, however, did not name names.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) earlier said it sent a demand letter to the Marcoses last year on their P203-billion tax liabilities.
On March 30, the Department of Finance said the BIR continued to demand that the Marcoses settle their estate tax debt.
Negros Oriental Representative Jocelyn Limkaichong, Canlaon City Mayor Jose Cardenas and Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo endorsed the Leni-Kiko tandem.
In a press release, Davao del Norte Representative Pantaleon Alvarez said that all officers of political party Partido Reporma in Cebu have expressed their decision supporting Robredo’s presidential bid.
The tandem, meanwhile, also went to Bayawan City and Siquijor province. They are set to hold a grand rally in Rusi Field in Dumaguete City in the evening.—Mel Matthew Doctor/LDF, GMA News
