People should be able to touch candidates, not just see them on TikTok
If elected, Vice President Leni Robredo said she would visit more areas in the country and be with communities that need the most help.
Public officials have the duty to be with the people and not just appear on social media.
"Pangako, mas maraming lugar ang pupuntahan natin, mas mahirap, mas lalo nating bababaran ng oras. Kung saan ka kailangan, dapat nandun ka," she told the crowd at a rally in Zamboanga del Norte on Wednesday.
"Dapat kaming lingkod-bayan hindi nyo lang pinapanood sa TV, dapat hindi nyo lang nakikita sa FB, Tiktok o Youtube. Dapat nakikita nyo, nahahawakan nyo, nakakausap nyo," she said.
"Kasi kung iba ang pakiramdam nyo, hindi kami makakapaglingkod ng tunay, dahil masyado palang komportbale ang buhay namin hindi namin nararamdaman ang hirap ng buhay," the presidential candidate said.
Robredo said the Office of the Vice President, despite its meager budget, was able to launch programs in many communities in the country that made a difference in the lives of the people.
At the height of the pandemic, Robredo's office provided PPEs to medical frontliners, provided free rides, conducted free COVID-19 tests and built temporary shelters to health personnel.
"May eleksyon o wala ganito kami kasipag, may eleksyon man o wala tumutulong kami," she said.
On May 9, Robredo urged the public to look at the track record of the candidates and their platforms.
“Lahat kaming kandidato meron kaming plataporma. Lahat po kaming mga kandidato nangangako na gagawin natin yon pero ito pong mga pangakong ito wala itong saysay kung ang gobyerno ay hindi magiging matapat,” she said.
"Napakalaki ng nakatay sa eleksyon na ito, ang pagdedesisyunan natin ay kung ano ang mangyayari sa susunod na anim na taon," she added. —LDF, GMA News
