Robin Padilla believes platform, not popularity boosted candidacy

Senatorial candidate actor Robin Padilla believes his push for federalism and charter change catapulted his projected win in the senatorial race for Eleksyon 2022.

In an interview with GMA News, Padilla strayed away from his popularity and said that his platforms won over the Filipino electorate.

(If the trend doesn’t change and I end up becoming number one, that only means one thing — the people want federalism and that is a big challenge to all senators who will win.)

(For me, what is number one here is the people’s clamor to change our Constitution. That’s what the public wants. Not me but my platforms.)

Padilla is running under the ruling PDP-Laban. He thanked his supporters for voting for him, saying he did not have money or machinery to boost his candidacy.

He maintained his lead among his fellow senatorial bets with 17, 851, 883 votes as of 9:32 PM. -- BAP, GMA News
