The new administration to inherit 88 of 119 Build Build Build projects

The Build Build Build project (BBB) is the flagship program of President Rodrigo Duterte's administration. It has a total of 119 infrastructure projects under its belt with a whopping budget of P5.08 trillion.

In April, the Department of Public Works and Highways has said a modest 12 projects have already been completed.

A report by Kara David meanwhile said seven more will be completed when Duterte steps down in June 2022, and another 12 by the end of the year, including the MRT 7 (P75 billion), Metro Manila Skyway Stage (P65.39 billion),  Southeast Metro Manila Expressway (P45.29 billion), and C5 Southlink Expressway (P12.645 billion).

According to the report, the new administration will inherit 88 projects that are expected to be completed in the next six years.

BBB includes some projects from past administrations, including Skyway Stage 3, which started way back during FVR's term in the '90s. It was only approved by President Benigno Aquino III in 2013, had its groundbreaking in January 2014, and began construction in January 2015. It finally opened to the public in January 2021.

In April, DPWH Undersecretary Emil Sadain said the Duterte administration’s promise of ushering in the golden age of infrastructure “does not stop with this administration. It goes beyond the succeeding administrations — if we want to ensure there will be a closure in the infrastructure gap comparatively with neighboring countries.”— LA, GMA News
