Groups troop to Comelec office to protest Eleksyon 2022 results

Groups belonging to the youth and labor sectors gathered in front of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) main office in Intramuros, Manila, on Tuesday to protest the results of the recently concluded elections.

A report by GMA News' Vonne Aquino said among the groups that participated in the rally were Kabataan, Karapatan, Bayan, Kilusang Mayo Uno, and Kontra Daya.

The groups were reportedly opposed to the looming victory of Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in the presidential race.

The son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and with over 30 million votes already based on partial and unofficial count, Marcos Jr. was way ahead of his staunchest rival Vice President Leni Robredo as of posting time.

The groups were chanting the names of Robredo and her running-mate Senator Francis Pangilinan, who was also losing to Marcos' running-mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, in the vice presidential race based on partial, official tally.

The rally lasted for about an hour before protesters started leaving the area.

Policemen in full batter gear were deployed to the area to maintain order. —KBK, GMA News
