Pacquiao concedes in Eleksyon 2022

Presidential candidate Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao has admitted defeat, a day after the 2022 May 9 polls.

In a video message Tuesday, Pacquiao conceded to former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. who is seen to win the elections in a landslide victory.

“The people have spoken. Tapos na ang halalan kaya’t bigyan naman natin ng pagkakataon ang pagkakaisa para sa kapayapaan at kaunlaran ng ating bansa,” said Pacquiao.

(The people have spoken. The elections are done so we should give unity a chance for our country’s peace and growth.)

“My decision to run was driven by my utmost desire to to serve the country and uplift the life of poor Filipinos. Bilang isang atleta, marunong akong tumanggap ng pagkatalo. Sana lang kahit talo ako sa laban na ito, panalo pa rin ang kapwa ko Pilipino…yung mga naghihirap,” he said.

(My decision to run was driven by my utmost desire to serve the country and uplift the life of poor Filipinos but as an athlete, I know when to accept defeat. I just hope that my defeat will be a win for our fellow Filipinos, especially the poor.)

“Sa ating susunod na pangulong Bongbong Marcos ako'y nanalangin para sa tagumpay ng iyong administrasyon na maraming mahihirap na maiangat ang pamumuhay na matulungan,” he added.

(To our next president Bongbong Marcos, I am praying for your administration’s triumph so that you’ll help uplift the lives of more poor Filipinos.)

The retired boxing champion thanked those who supported his candidacy including his family and wife, Jinkee.

While he would devote his time to relaxing and spending time with his family,  Pacquiao assured the public he would continue helping the marginalized through his private foundation.

“I will definitely continue my mission to help our people through the Manny Pacquiao foundation. Hinding-hindi ko tatalikuran ang pagse-serbisyo para sa bayan at para sa mga kasama kong mahihirap,” he said.

(I will definitely continue my mission to help our people through the Manny Pacquiao foundation. I can never turn back to my service to the people and to the poor.)

“Maraming maraming salamat po mga kababayan sa pagkakataon. Mahal na mahal po kayo ni Manny Pacquiao anuman ang mangyari, yan po ang aking puso tunay na may malasakit sa mga naghihirap na tao,” he added.

(I thank our fellow Filipinos for giving me a chance to fight. Manny Pacquiao cares about you. No matter what happens, my heart is for the  Filipinos living in poverty.)
