Israel congratulates Philippines for May 9 elections

Israel on Friday congratulated the Philippines for the successful conduct of the May 9 national and local elections.

"We congratulate the Philippines for demonstrating democracy through the national and local elections last May 9," the Israel Embassy in Manila said in a statement.

The embassy said it will continue to work closely with the incoming administration.

The Philippines enjoys strong ties with Israel, with which it has existing partnership in agriculture, food security, water, tourism, innovation and technology, and defense.

As of 8:17 a.m. on Friday, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. continues to lead the presidential race based on partial unofficial tally with 31,104,175 votes.  —KBK, GMA News
