Presumptive VP Sara Duterte sets inauguration on June 19 in Davao

Presumptive vice president Sara Duterte has set her inauguration date in Davao City on June 19, several days ahead of when her term as second highest elected official starts on June 30.

In a statement, the mayor of Davao City indicated that she wanted to honor her fellow Davaoenos by making them actually witness her oath-taking as vice president.

"While waiting for the proclamation, I already penciled in June 19 as the inauguration date in Davao City," said Sara, the eldest daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte.

"The Dabawenyos’ patience made me the public servant that I am today, it is only fitting to honor them the opportunity to witness the oathtaking," she added.

"It will be conducted earlier than the traditional June 30 event because I also want to attend the oathtaking of President Marcos," Sara said.

Both Sara and her standard bearer former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. are way ahead of other candidates in the tallies of the Commission on Elections.

GMA News Online reached out to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for comment regarding Sara's inauguration schedule but it has yet to reply as of posting time. -NB, GMA News
