Marcos nominates spokesperson Vic Rodriguez as executive secretary

Presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has nominated his chief-of-staff and spokesperson Atty. Victor Rodriguez as executive secretary for the next administration.

Rodriguez welcomed the nomination, thanking Marcos for the trust he has given him.

“It is an honor working with him, whom I have known for a very long time and I believe will serve the country efficiently and with unquestioned devotion. It is very flattering to work alongside the best person I’ve known,” he said, according to a press release from Marcos' camp.

“Rest assured that our team will work doubly hard for the success of his six-year presidency,” he added.

Earlier this month, Marcos said his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, the presumptive vice president, has agreed to take on the post as education secretary in the next administration.

Rodriguez on Tuesday said Marcos asked former Labor secretary Benny Laguesma and Susan "Toots" Ople to be part of his administration as Labor secretary and head of the Department of Migrant Workers, respectively.

Ople said Wednesday she is still making consultations as to whether she will accept the offer.

Partial and unofficial count of votes as of May 13 at 2:47 p.m. showed Marcos leading the presidential race, garnering 31,104,175 votes, based on data from the Comelec Transparency Media Server. —KG, GMA News
