Comelec eyes proclamation of winning partylists by May 26-27

The Commission on Elections is expecting to proclaim the winning partylists in the 2022 elections by May 26 or May 27, 2022, the Comelec's spokesperson said on Tuesday.

According to acting Commission Spokesperson Rex Laudiangco, the Comelec is considering the “time frame” for the transmission and canvassing of results when the special elections in Tubaran, Lanao del Sur closes on Tuesday evening.

After the special elections in Tubaran, Laudiangco said the municipal board of canvassers will transmit and canvass the results which will be forwarded to the provincial board of canvassers of Lanao del Sur.

The Comelec is expecting to receive the certificate of canvass from the provincial board of canvassers on Wednesday, May 25.

Then, the national board of canvassers, as well as concerned committees and groups, will process it.

They will apply the formula of the Supreme Court to determine the winning partylists and sign a resolution on the matter.

Laudiangco said they were targeting to proclaim all of the 63 winning partylists if the 1,900 remaining votes from Shanghai would not affect the results.

Meanwhile, Laudiangco said many partylists have already filed petitions to change their nominees. The petitions involved withdrawal, substitution, and death of nominees. — DVM, GMA News
