VP-elect Sara Duterte: Thank you for opportunity to save lives

Vice President-elect Sara Duterte has dedicated her victory in Eleksyon 2022 to victims of "terrorism, abuse, criminality, and bullying."

"The opportunity to serve as vice president, I dedicate to Kean Gabriel, to Larry, to Jaren and Frederick and all those who passed because of terrorism, abuse, criminality, and bullying," the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte said after her proclamation as winner of the vice presidential race.

"Thank you for the opportunity to save lives," she added.

Sara stressed her and President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s campaign message of unity.

"Magtulungan tayo para sa isang bayan na mapayapa at nagkakaisa. Mahal natin ang Pilipinas. May God bless the Philippines. Daghang Salamat (Thank you very much)," Sara said.

Sara thanked the Commission on Elections, the teachers, uniformed personnel, and the Congress for the "generally peaceful and orderly election."

"Ang akong pagdaog mooy kadaugan sa inyong tanan nitabang, nanikamot ug nisuporta kanako (Ang aking pagkapanalo ay panalo rin ng lahat ng tumulong, naniwala at sumuporta sa akin)," Sara said.

Sara didn't answer the question why members of her family were not around during her proclamation.

Instead, she thanked the media for the interaction after the proceedings.

Her father, outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte, mother Elizabeth Zimmerman, brothers-- Davao City Mayor-elect Sebastian Duterte and re-elected Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte, husband Atty. Mans Carpio, and children were not around during the proclamation of her vice presidential win at the House of Representatives on Wednesday afternoon. —NB, GMA News
