Robredo, daughters back in the Philippines from New York trip

Outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo, along with her daughters, returned to the Philippines on Saturday after attending her youngest child Jillian’s graduation in New York City.

The Office of the Vice President confirmed Robredo's return, telling GMA News Online on Sunday, "Nakabalik na po."

"We’re back. Ready to work again. Energized by the longest vacation I’ve had in 10 years," the vice president said in a post on Facebook on Sunday night.

Before the two-week trip, Robredo underscored that she would be on top of the preparations for the launch of the Angat Buhay program, a non-government organization composed mostly of volunteers who ran her campaign during this year’s elections.

Robredo trailed behind President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the 2022 elections’ presidential race with 14 million votes as compared to the former senator’s 31 million votes.

Meanwhile, her running mate Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan also placed second to Marcos’ running mate Vice President-elect Sara Duterte.

Duterte’s spokesman Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco on Saturday said the transition of powers between Robredo and Duterte had formally started. — DVM/KG, GMA News
