Philippines logs 200 new COVID-19 infections


The Philippines on Sunday registered 200 new COVID-19 infections, increasing the nationwide tally to 3,690,254.

The active cases in the country remained at 2,434, according to the Department of Health (DOH)’s latest data.

No new COVID-19 deaths were recorded in the last eight days while a total of 3,627,365 people have been counted as recoveries from the virus.

According to the DOH, the top regions with cases in the last two weeks were the National Capital Region with 1,011, followed by Calabarzon with 367, and Central Luzon with 276.

The Health department said at least 18,274 individuals were tested, while 301 testing labs submitted data on May 28.

It noted that the bed occupancy in the country was 16.7%, with 5,115 beds occupied, while 25,508 vacant. — BM, GMA News
