DepEd's Briones to meet VP-elect Sara Duterte for transition

Education Secretary Leonor Briones is expected to meet with Vice President-elect Sara Duterte, her successor in the department, to guarantee a smooth transition of the new leadership.

"For the incoming Secretary of Education, we have been exchanging messages. We are busy with our respective transition process," Briones said during Day 2 of the Duterte Legacy Summit which touts the accomplishments of the Duterte administration.

"Ang usapan namin...[between] June 20 and June 30, we will have a one-on-one briefing. Kami lang dalawa," she added.

(We will be meeting, the two of us, maybe between June 20 to 30.)

Briones said their transition teams will also sit down to discuss the details of the turnover.

"That time will be used so she can raise concerns, as well as present our accomplishments, challenges and other possibilities that could be done to help our learners. Rest assured we are ready for the turnover," Briones said.

"I see a smooth transition [ahead] because she has a wide understanding of the problems of the education sector, especially in the grassroots level," she added.
