Ports Authority warns public of package delivery scam

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) on Thursday warned the public against unauthorized individuals using the agency’s name and logo for a scam using fake packages.

The PPA issued the warning after it received reports of unauthorized individuals using the agency’s name and logo to present fake sales invoices to the victims, while informing them that they have received a package from another country.

It said that the suspects will ask the victims to pay a large amount of money for supposed services, including use of equipment in ports, taxes, and delivery fees.

"Nais ipagbigay-alam ng ahensya na hindi kailanman nakikipag-ugnayan ang PPA sa mga nagpapadala at tatanggap ng package na dumaraan sa mga pantalang nasa ilalim ng pamamahala nito,” the agency said in an advisory released on Wednesday.

(The agency informs the public that the PPA never communicates with the senders and recipients of the packages passing through the ports under its management.)

The PPA also advised the public to be vigilant and cautious against these unscrupulous individuals. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
