Bangladesh eyes enhanced cooperation, investment on pharmaceutical industry in Philippines -envoy

Bangladesh is looking into investing in the pharmaceutical industry in the Philippines by enhancing its cooperation with the government, Bangladeshi Ambassador Borhan Uddin said Friday.

In an interview after his courtesy visit on President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Uddin disclosed that they have also discussed Philippines’ interest into agriculture, fiber, ceramics, among others.

Since Bangladesh is known for its pharmaceutical sector, Uddin said they are hoping to enhance their cooperation in this sector with the possibility of investing in the Philippines.

“We have a very booming pharmaceutical sector in Bangladesh. You will be happy to know that we export our pharmaceuticals to more than 140 countries around the globe, including USA and European Union countries,” he said.

“So we are hoping to enhance our cooperation in this sector also and maybe there will be some investment from Bangladesh in the Philippines, in this sector,” he added.

The Bangladeshi envoy said Marcos also mentioned boosting local manufacturing of generic medicine.

Aside from Uddin, ambassadors of Nigeria, New Zealand, Poland, and Australia are also scheduled to pay courtesy visit on Marcos Friday.—AOL, GMA News
