PNP: No security threat monitored in upcoming Marcos inauguration

With only four days before the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the Philippine National Police (PNP) had not monitored any security threats to the ceremony.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said they were almost 100 percent ready for the inauguration.

“Sa ngayon ay wala pa naman tayong na-receive na any credible na threat that could thwart or stop the event sa Huwebes,” Fajardo said.

(So far, we have not received any credible threat that could thwart or stop the event on Thursday.)

“But nonetheless patuloy po ang coordination ng PNP sa other region forces to make sure na ‘yung mga naririnig natin hoax information ay na-va-validate para makapag [lagay] din tayo ng appropriate security measures to thwart any attempt,” she added.

(But nonetheless, the PNP will continue to coordinate with other regional forces to ensure that the hoax information we come across is validated so we can take the appropriate security measures to thwart any attempt.)

Marcos will take his oath as the 17th president of the Philippines on June 30 at the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) in Ermita, Manila.

The PNP said over 15,000 security personnel would be deployed to secure the Marcos inauguration.

PNP director for operations Police Major General Valeriano De Leon said Task Force Manila Shield would be activated two days before the inauguration.

Checkpoints and chokepoints would be set up in all the entry points to Manila for three days starting on June 28, and a gun ban would be imposed starting June 27 in Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, protesters would be treated with maximum tolerance as instructed by PNP officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr., according to De Leon. — DVM, GMA News
