BI assures fast entry of foreign dignitaries for Marcos inauguration
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday assured the expeditious entry of foreign dignitaries who are set to attend the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos on June 30, 2022.
“We have already put in place the mechanisms and procedures to ensure that these foreign visitors are given priority in the conduct of immigration formalities upon their arrival at the airport,” Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said in a statement.
Morente said that immigration officers have been instructed to extend port courtesies to the arriving delegates.
Likewise, BI has put in place several arrangements at the country’s airports including the faster and easier conduct of customs, immigration, and quarantine formalities for the foreign dignitaries.
Special lanes and an assigned team of Immigration officers, meanwhile, were also assigned to conduct remote immigration clearance of the passengers at the airport ramp in case the delegates arrive via chartered flights.
Some of the distinguished guests in Marcos Jr.’s oath taking at the National Museum in Manila are Australian Governor General David Hurley, Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, and Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato Sri Saifuddin Abdullah, among others.
Also arriving is Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan who will serve as the representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping at the ceremony.—LDF, GMA News
