Philippines logs 1,309 new cases, highest daily tally since February


The Philippines on Thursday recorded 1,309 new COVID-19 infections, the highest daily tally since February 25 when 1,671 COVID-19 new cases were reported.

Based on the Department of Health (DOH)’s latest data, the new infections brought the number of active cases climbed to 7,871 from 7,202 on Wednesday.

The nationwide caseload has reached 3,704,407.

The National Capital Region (NCR) registered 4,529 new cases in the recent two weeks, followed by Calabarzon with 1,589, Western Visayas with 786, Central Luzon with 649, and Central Visayas with 406.

More patients recovered from the viral disease adding the recovery tally to 3,635,981, while the number of deaths also rose to 60,555.

A total of 22,154 individuals were tested, while 319 testing laboratories submitted data as of June 29.

The nationwide bed occupancy rate is at 18.6%, while the number of beds occupied were 5,497, while 24,095 were vacant. —NB, GMA News
