Palace: Marcos condition 'greatly improved' after testing positive for COVID-19

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s  health condition has improved days after he tested positive for COVID-19, Malacañang said Sunday.

In a statement, Press Secretary Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles said Bongbong's personal physician Dr. Samuel Zacate on Saturday afternoon said the  President's health has “greatly improved with only mild symptoms with no fever, no loss of taste and smell sensation.”

According to her, the physical examination showed that Marcos’ throat was “clear of any inflammation” and there was also “no sign of respiratory distress or pneumonia.”

His vital signs are also “within normal limit and he will be subjected to further laboratory examination as may be needed.”

“His personal doctor, Dr. Zacate, reported Saturday that the President is doing well and very much in stable condition,” Angeles said, noting that Marcos was advised to undergo home isolation for seven days.

Marcos tested positive for COVID-19 in an antigen test on Friday, July 8. Palace said he also yielded the same results for the RT-PCR confirmatory test.

The chief executive experienced mild fever, nasal stuffiness, nasal itchiness, and mild occasional non-productive cough, the Palace added.

Angeles said Marcos is continuing his home medications and will be under close monitoring by Zacate until his home isolation period has been completed.  —LBG, GMA News
