Palace: Marcos now out of COVID-19 isolation

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has finished his isolation after getting infected with COVID-19, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said on Friday.

"Ok na po as of his doctor’s findings yesterday. Tapos na rin po ang isolation niya," Cruz-Angeles told reporters when asked about Marcos' health condition.

Marcos tested positive for COVID-19 on July 8.

Still, Marcos presided over the second Cabinet meeting on Tuesday through videoconferencing.

He also had virtual meetings with the officials of the Department of Agriculture and the National Economic and Development Authority.

Meanwhile, with his isolation ended, Marcos on Friday swore in Manuel Antonio Teehankee as the Philippines’ representative to the World Trade Organization in a Palace ceremony.

Marcos met with Teehankee, together with Executive Secretary Victor Rodriguez, Presidential Management Staff chief Zenaida Angping, and Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo.

Teehankee sits as the concurrent ambassador and Philippine permanent representative to the WTO.

A lawyer by profession, Teehankee was chair of the WTO Committee on Trade and Environment sitting in Special Session from 2008 to October 2011. —VBL, GMA News
