Philippines logs 3,657 new COVID-19 cases, highest daily tally since February
The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday recorded 3,657 new COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day tally since February 12.
This is the third straight day with more than 3,000 new infections.
Based on the DOH’s latest data, the country’s active cases increased to 27,116 from 25,743 on Saturday.
The total number of COVID-19 infections in the country is now at 3,752,534.
Meanwhile, the number of recoveries climbed to 3,664,735, while the death toll rose by 13 to 60,683.
According to the DOH, the regions with the most cases in the last two weeks were the National Capital Region with 12,077 followed by Calabarzon with 7,574 and Central Luzon with 3,404.
The Health Department said at least 21,803 individuals were tested, while 308 testing labs submitted data on July 23.
It noted that the bed occupancy in the country was 25%, with 7,247 beds occupied, while 21,765 were vacant. — Mel Matthew Doctor/BM, GMA News
