Returning lawmaker Libanan named House minority leader


Former Immigration commissioner and returning lawmaker Marcelino "Nonoy" Libanan has been elected minority leader in the House of Representatives.

Northern Samar Rep. Paul Daza made the manifestation during Congress' session on Tuesday, saying that Libanan, who is representing 4Ps party-list, was unanimously elected by 25 members.

"We are happy to announce and to put on the record the election of our new Minority leader, Congressman Nonoy Libanan," Daza said.

Libanan was a former Eastern Samar representative and even served as the chairman of the House Committee on Justice during his previous tenure as a House member.

Libanan expressed gratitude to his fellow House members.

"I would like to thank my dear colleagues. Rest assured that we will perform our task as responsible minority of this august chamber," he said.  —KBK, GMA News
