Improve PWD access to establishments, facilities —group
A public transport advocate group said the accessibility of persons with disabilities (PWDs) to establishments and public utilities needs improvement, according to a “24 Oras” report on Tuesday.
The Move As One Coalition said the challenges faced by PWDs from crossing roads on wheelchairs, going to bathrooms and sidewalks, and even riding public transportation were shown in a walkthrough conducted in Quezon City.
The group said the Accessibility Law which aims to give proper access to the disabled is still very difficult to implement.
The public transport advocate called to further study the said law and implement plans for the betterment of the PWDs.
It also said that it hopes that the facilities and public transportation in the country will become more PWD friendly.—Richa Noriega/LDF, GMA News
