Philippines logs 2,727 new COVID-19 cases; active tally hits 27,754
The Philippines posted 2,727 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
This raised the total number of cases in the country to 3,760,488, while the number of active infections slightly increased to 27,754 from 27,643 on Tuesday.
Wednesday's active tally is the highest since April 10, when 28,380 active cases were reported.
The DOH said the top regions with cases in the last two weeks were the National Capital Region with 12,832, followed by Calabarzon with 8,217, Central Luzon with 3,745, Western Visayas with 2,437, and Central Visayas with 1,429.
It also reported that 2,615 more patients recovered from the viral disease, bringing the recovery tally to 3,672,040.
Meanwhile, the death toll stood at 60,694 with no new deaths recorded.
As of Tuesday, the bed occupancy rate in the country was 27.1%, with 7,776 beds occupied and 20,993 beds vacant.
A total of 24,195 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday, while 328 testing laboratories submitted data. —VBL, GMA News
