Philippines posts 4,127 new COVID-19 cases, highest daily tally in five months


The Philippines recorded 4,127 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, the highest daily tally in more than five months, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

The latest tally was the highest since 4,575 cases were reported on February 10.

Active cases further increased to 32,637 from 29,897 on Thursday.

The top regions with cases in the past two weeks were the National Capital Region with 13,461, followed by Calabarzon with 8,773, Central Luzon with 4,099, Western Visayas with 2,532, and Central Visayas with 1,684.

An additional 1,374 patients defeated the viral disease, pushing the recovery tally to 3,675,119.

Fourteen new deaths were reported as the death toll increased to 60,718.

As of Thursday, there were 7,862 beds occupied across the country and 21,054 beds vacant, for a bed occupancy rate of 27.2%.

A total of 24,219 individuals were tested for the coronavirus on Thursday, while 327 testing laboratories submitted data. —VBL, GMA News
