Abra earthquake infrastructure damage has reached over P700M, NDRRMC says

More than P700 million worth of damage in infrastructure has been reported due to the magnitude 7 earthquake that hit Abra, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.

In its 6 a.m. situational report, the NDRRMC said a total of P704,491,498.76 of damage in infrastructure were reported in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Region, and Cordillera Administrative Region.

A total of P393,188,000 of damage was recorded in Ilocos, P302,763,498.76 in Cordillera, and P8,540,000 in Cagayan.

The NDRRMC said at least 1,084 structures were damaged.

Meanwhile, damage to agriculture reached P13,964,476 in Cordillera.

The National Irrigation Administration also monitored P4.5 million worth of damage in the region.

The NDRRMC reported that a total of 24,901 homes were damaged—24,547 partially and 354 totally—in Ilocos, Cagayan, Cordillera, and the National Capital Region.

According to the NDRRMC, 10 people were killed while 394 were injured due to the earthquake.

The quake occurred at 8:43 a.m. on July 27 and was located at 17.64°N, 120.63°E - 003 km N 45° W of Tayum in Abra. It was felt strongly in many areas in Luzon, including in Metro Manila. —KG, GMA News
