DOH logs 4,621 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 37,805


The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday recorded 4,621 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the total nationwide caseload to 3,803,955.

This is the fourth straight day with more than 4,000 new infections.

Based on the DOH’s latest data, the country’s active cases increased to 37,805 from 37,344 on Saturday.

The number of recoveries climbed to 3,705,343 while the death toll rose by 18 to 60,807.

According to the DOH, the regions with the most cases in the last two weeks were the National Capital Region with 15,580 followed by Calabarzon with 10,125 and Central Luzon with 5,109.

The Health Department said at least 22,509 individuals were tested, while 311 testing labs submitted data on August 6.

It said that the bed occupancy in the country was 29.3%, with 8,412 beds occupied, while 20,332 were vacant. — Mel Matthew Doctor/BM, GMA News
