Tolentino elected Senate justice panel chair; Padilla to head cultural communities committee

The Senate on Wednesday elected Senator Francis Tolentino as chairperson of the Justice and Human Rights Committee with Senator Sonny Angara as the vice chairperson.

Tolentino and Angara will be joined by Senators Robin Padilla, Ronald dela Rosa, JV Ejercito, Mark Villar, Bong Go, Francis Escudero, and Risa Hontiveros as members.

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, who chairs the Senate rules committee, said they will file a resolution on Monday to change the Senate committee on cultural communities to committee on cultural communities and Muslim affairs.

Padilla was tapped to head the panel with Senator Imee Marcos as vice-chairperson and Tolentino, Go, Dela Rosa, Angara, and Hontiveros as members.

So far, the Senate has elected the chairpersons of all standing committees except for the Senate committees on basic education, arts, and culture; ethics; labor employment and human resource development; and science and technology.—AOL, GMA News
