DOH logs 4,679 new COVID-19 cases, says active tally at 40,324


A total of 4,679 new COVID-19 cases were recorded Saturday, bringing the country’s caseload to 3,827,758, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

The latest daily tally is the third straight day with more than 4,500 new cases registered.

Likewise, the active cases also rose to 40,324 from 40,315 on Friday, based on the DOH’s latest data. This is also the 16th straight day with more than 30,000 active cases.

The National Capital Region (NCR) registered 15,843 new cases in the past two weeks, followed by Calabarzon with 10,052, Central Luzon with 5,212, Western Visayas with 2,873, and Cagayan Valley with 2,236.

Meanwhile, the DOH said that at least 4,617 more patients recovered from COVID-19, increasing the recovery tally to 3,726,442.

A total of 48 new deaths were recorded adding the country’s death tally to 60,992.

On the other hand, the nationwide bed occupancy rate increased to 30.3%, while the number of beds occupied were at 8,755, while at least 20,106 were vacant.

As of August 12, a total of 23,552 individuals were tested, while 324 testing laboratories submitted data. —LBG, GMA News
