DOH logs 2,633 new COVID-19 cases, active tally down to 36,190


The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday monitored 2,633 new COVID-19 cases , increasing the country’s caseload to 3,838,062.

The Philippines' single-day new COVID-19 case tallies had hovered above 4,000 for the last several days before going down to 3,484 on Monday,

Active cases have also dipped below 40,000 for the second straight day, with 36,190 cases on Tuesday from 38,982 on Monday.

At least 5,383 patients have been recorded as recoveries, bringing the recovery tally to 3,740,745.

Meanwhile, 49 fatalities were recorded, increasing the death toll to 61,127.

The National Capital Region (NCR) was the region with the most cases in the recent two weeks with 15,685, followed by Calabarzon with 9,972, Central Luzon with 5,267, Western Visayas with 2,763, and Cagayan Valley with 2,402.

The DOH reported 21,480  individuals were tested, while 328 testing laboratories submitted data as of Monday, August 15.

Meanwhile, the bed occupancy in the country stood at 30%, while at least  8,681 beds were occupied and 20,276 were vacant. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
