Philippine hospitals recognized by global health organizations

Global health organizations have awarded several hospitals in the Philippines for having “exemplary performance” in providing quality medical services, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Tuesday.

The Quirino Memorial Medical Center and Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center received a diamond status from the World Stroke Organization (WSO), DOH said.

The organization also awarded the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, and Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center with gold status.

The Health department said these healthcare institutions have succeeded in achieving the tiering system of the WSO based on the hospital’s performance against various measures.

The WSO is a global organization that focuses on stroke with around 3,000 individuals and 90 society members spanning every global region and represents over 55,000 stroke specialists in clinical, research, and community settings, according to the DOH.

Hospitals that submit data of at least 30 consecutive stroke patients in either the RES-Q or SITS QR Registry using the ESO Awards Protocol will be eligible for the gold, platinum and diamond level award.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Heart Center received the diamond level for the third time from the Accreditation Canada International for providing an exemplary performance in giving quality medical services.

It is the highest conferred recognition given by the institution.

According to the DOH, the institution evaluates hospitals and healthcare facilities based on quality, safety, risk management, and ethics of medical support services.

The DOH congratulated the healthcare institutions for providing world class service and dedication.

“Our healthcare institutions do not simply serve our kababayans. They do so with world-class services and top-notch care and dedication. It makes the realization of the Universal Health Care Act for every Juan and Juana more evident,” DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a statement.

“This further proves the commitment of the department, together with its partner hospitals, to providing quality healthcare service to the Filipino people. We thank each one of our homegrown institutions and healthcare workers for their exemplary delivery of service and care,” she added.—LDF, GMA News
