Nat'l PTA Philippines proposes 3 class shifts for some schools

The National Parents-Teachers Association Philippines on Saturday proposed three class shifts for some schools as the Academic Year 2022-2023 begins on Monday, August 22, amid the lingering COVID-19 pandemic.

"Meron po tayong tinatawag na dalawa hanggang tatlong shifting. 'Yun po ang maaaring pinakamagandang gawin, na ginagawa noong araw," NPTA Philippines president Willy Rodriguez said in a Dobol B TV interview.

(We have two to three shifts. That is perhaps the best thing to do. We practiced this even before.)

"Kapag kulang po ang ating rooms, nagtatatlong shift po sila (If schools lack classrooms, they hold three shifts," he added.

Santiago said parents are considerably "ready" for the opening of classes.

Despite challenges faced by schools, including the lack of classrooms, students still increase every year, Rodriguez pointed out.

"Challenges will be there, but there is coping with it," he said.

"Our suggestion is that instead of having only four floors, construct schools with six floors or higher," Rodriguez added. —LBG, GMA News
