NAIA suspends operations due to red lightning alert

Flight and ground operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) were temporarily suspended on Wednesday morning due to a lightning red alert raised by PAGASA.

In an advisory, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the Red Lightning Alert was raised at 10:32 a.m.

"PAGASA issued a Lightning Red Alert as of 10:32AM; Airport operations stop," the DOTr said.

The Philippines is bracing for the effects of Tropical Depression Gardo and Super Typhoon Hinnamnor, which as of Wednesday morning was still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Gardo, on the other hand, was meandering over the Philippine Sea as it moved in north northeast direction, PAGASA said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. —KBK, GMA News
